One of the highlights thus far has been the week we spent at the beach with my parents, niece & sister. This is the first year that "Are we there yet?" became Carter's most commonly spoken phrase. But one funny moment came when we were listening to the song "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" by Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffett. Carter started to sing along and said, "I know this song! We listened to it at my school at rest time." I started laughing & in that moment decided that sweet Miss Claudia (Carter's teacher) will be getting a bottle of wine and a copy of that song as our end of summer gift. :)
Once at the beach, there's always so much to do...and eat! We hit our usual favorite spots including Red Bar, the Back Porch, Seagrove Village Market, the go-kart track & the shops at Seaside...but one of the sweetest moments came as we celebrated my parents' 43rd wedding anniversary on June 8. We all went down to Seaside for their outdoor concert. To no one's surprise, Carter had asked to buy the light-up light sabers (this was the one souvenir he just HAD to have!). When we got back to the condo, Carter & Adaline left the lights out, turned on the flashing light sabers & a flashlight, and waved them around as my parents danced to "My Girl" by the Temptations. My sis & I were, of course, the back up dancers. :) It was the sweetest moment to see my precious parents dancing and twirling around together as I imagined what their first dance was like on their wedding day.
All in all, the week was just about perfect...beautiful water, warm ocean breezes, soft & fluffy sand, and family.
Here are a few pics from our adventures...
